Most were a cappella (a few with light background piano).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ChuckKeating.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"ChuckKeating\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ChuckKeating_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"ChuckKeating\" width=\"161\" height=\"216\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Pianist.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"Pianist\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Pianist_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"Pianist\" width=\"212\" height=\"216\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There were three special additions: a flute solo, several songs conducted by a student and one highlighting a solo singer. About half-way into the performance, sections of the ensemble went back to their seats as the remaining students continued singing. It is no understatement to call this an uplifting experience for those of us lucky enough to participate. The school\u2019s motto is &#8220;Quae sursum sunt Quaerite&#8221; (&#8220;Seek the things that are above.&#8221;) The group delivered, raising our eyes and our hearts in unity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ChoralEnsembleSinging.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"ChoralEnsembleSinging\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/ChoralEnsembleSinging_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"ChoralEnsembleSinging\" width=\"240\" height=\"203\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the program:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Program.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"Program\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Program_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"Program\" width=\"129\" height=\"216\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Choral Ensemble was recently chosen by B101, WBEB-FM as the best school musical group in Philadelphia (the station\u2019s 2nd Annual Christmas Choir Contest in the grades 7-12 division.) Here\u2019s <a title=\"Winning Song from Bishop Shanahan High School Choral Ensemble\" href=\"http:\/\/www.catholicschools-phl.org\/audio\/bishop-shanahan-choir-contest\/Choir.mp3\" target=\"_blank\">the song they sang for the contest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Trinity Church\" href=\"http:\/\/www.trinitywallstreet.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Trinity Church<\/a> is a beautiful structure at the tip of the Island founded in 1697 &#8220;a sacred oasis amid the busy downtown streets&#8221;. The Church (and Trinity Choir) are well known throughout the world for their rich musical heritage and contributions. Trinity presents many free concerts every year.<\/p>\n<p>They have a wonderful <a title=\"Trinity Church Youth Music Program\" href=\"http:\/\/www.trinitywallstreet.org\/music\/youthmusic\/about\" target=\"_blank\">youth music program<\/a> which \u201cemphasizes the social aspect of singing, brings together collaborative neighborhood partners, and teaches the importance of building bridges within our community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Why did I attend? A \u2018few years\u2019 back I worked with an amazing girl in her first job straight out of college. She proved over and over how much she could take on with grace and dedication: marriage, motherhood, burgeoning career \u2013 and still remain the kindest of people! We kept in touch over the years as each of our lives took their twists and turns. While we haven\u2019t seen each other as much as we\u2019d like, yesterday gave us the chance to correct that \ud83d\ude42 finally in person, sharing this incredible experience\u2026.hopefully the first of many more to come.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/AnneEileen.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"AnneEileen\" src=\"https:\/\/www.opticality.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/AnneEileen_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"AnneEileen\" width=\"240\" height=\"205\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As Hadar &amp; I have found, our lives are continually enhanced and blessed with the music \u2013 and musicians &#8211; who create the \u2018<a title=\"Psalm 100\" href=\"http:\/\/www.neno.co.ke\/bible\/book\/Psalms\/100\/1\" target=\"_blank\">joyful noise<\/a>\u2019 we all can share.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following is a guest post by our very own Lois.
