As a result of this column, I heard from two or three users who are running fairly substantial sites on Zope and who were astonished even to find that Python was related in any way. One "grandmother" (as she described herself) was exulting over finding this out because it meant she could get Zope to do some stuff she didn't see how to do before.
One of the tech people I respect most (I'm not using his name out of respect for his privacy) has told me that in the past year he has stopped using every other app server and language combination for the kinds of sites he gets called on to build and is using Zope/Python exclusively. He claims a huge array of benefits for it.
