Open Source Framework Speeds Time-to-Market for Corporate Intranets, Community Web Sites, and Content Publishers
FREDERICKSBURG, Va., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Creations,
developers of Zope(TM), the leading Open Source Web application server
announces the release of its new Content Management Framework (CMF). CMF makes
it easy to rapidly build content management systems so even non-technical
users can maintain systems, safely speeding content creation and publication.
``We use Zope to build content management systems, delivering them far
faster than other providers,'' said Rob Page, co-founder and COO of Digital
Creations. ``We have packaged the expertise in the Content Management
Framework, allowing developers to rapidly create and deploy flexible, high
performance systems.''
CMF enables the secure distribution of content to those responsible for
maintenance and updates. Templates simplify the entire content creation
process, which is managed through the Web. Role-based Permissions ensure
proper implementation of content publication. Workflow, like other business
rules, can be fully customized to fit the organization's rules. Version
Tracking and Rollback capability ensure that any changes can be quickly and
easily made, without impacting the rest of the site.
CMF treats the three tiers of a Web site -- content, business rules and
presentation -- as Managed Content, resulting in an extremely flexible system.
Security, Permissions and Version Control can be applied to each layer
separately. Changes can be made off-line, and rolled out immediately once
approved. Multiple presentations are supported. Members can choose the look
and feel they prefer. Business rules can be customized, and different groups
can have different rules.
Information is added to the site and indexed on a real-time basis, so as
soon as Permission is granted for content to be made public, the text is
available for searching. Searches are affected by roles, so search results
will not include items the user does not have Permission to view. Both meta
database and full text searching are available, improving the quality of the
results.
CMF integrates with many standard tools, components and protocols,
including XML, WebDAV, RPC, SOAP, and LDAP. It also works with Oracle, Sybase
and other ODBC-compliant relational databases. CMF runs on most versions of
Windows and Unix, including Linux.
Availability and Support
CMF is released as Open Source, which means it comes with the source code
at no charge. The beta version of CMF can be downloaded from cmf.zope.org and
technical support is available by posting messages to the Zope mailing lists,
one of which is specific to the CMF. Support is also available from Digital
Creations, on a fee basis.
Digital Creations provides a full range of consulting services. For
organizations requiring assistance implementing CMF, the Company is the
superior choice because services are supported by the developers who created,
and continue to enhance, CMF.
